Tenrox, a Montreal-based software development company, continues to expand at an unprecedented rate. In order to meet the demands of their growing staff, the company recently moved into a new office space in the Laval Technology Park.
"This is not a typical nine to five company. The parking lot was full when I came in last Sunday, and you can feel the growth of the company every day. People spend a lot of time at the office so we make sure they are comfortable," reports the director of public relations.
Tenrox was founded five years ago as a consulting company. In 1997, a time-tracking solution product was invented and the company focus shifted from typical consulting to product development and marketing. Today, with a staff of sixty, Tenrox provides software solutions for project, time, expense, resource management and workforce optimization, and complex web and e-mail-based projects. The company has experienced strong growth since 1995, with annual sales growth at 40 per cent each year and more than 100 per cent in 1999.
"There are new positions available in all departments," confirms the director of personal relations. The main openings fall in the areas of software development, quality assurance, technical support and testing, as well as in the marketing and sales department. The company looks for individuals who will contribute something positive to the company and can fit in with the company culture, whether "they have a degree and experience or not". According to the director of personal relations, the qualities Tenrox looks for in its new hires include ambition, motivation, dedication, organization and communications skills.
Tenrox conducts their marketing primarily on the web. "The Internet enables small companies, like us, to access clients around the world. Without it we wouldn't be able to reach such a broad market. We really owe our growth to the internet," the director of personal relations explains. He believes that Tenrox has a unique approach to the market by "using technology to sell technology." "We rarely go to visit clients, but rather offer online presentations and a dynamic interactive web site with product information".
In March of this year, Tenrox was rated one of the top 25 up and coming IT companies in Canada by the National Post. Infotech Magazine classified Tenrox as among the 10 rising stars of industry, according to their annual survey on the best software development firms in Quebec.
