Project management had to include project-tracking capabilities, integration with a known project management software package, and budgetary and expenditure settings. Resource management features were evaluated based on ease of use and how much background information could be gathered on individuals. Since project managers make hiring decisions, particular attention was paid to search criteria and resource mini-resumes. More importantly, work history was a key factor. Various notifications also had to be in place to automate the whole process. All vendors had to incorporate an open API for product integration. Specialists conducted a feature review and evaluated different levels of integration based solely on that survey. The PSA solutions needed to interface with one or multiple third-party accounting, payroll, ERP, CRM and SFA systems. Project metrics and reporting were reviewed. Analytical data representation and flexible reporting engines were key factors in differentiating the vendors.
