Butler University Selects Tenrox On-demand to Simplify IT Project Management
Glendale, California - June 30, 2010
Butler University in Indianapolis, IN is well known for its basketball prowess due to its near-championship “Cinderella” showing in the recent NCCA basketball tournament. But the 4,500 student university also has a state-of-the art IT department that manages more than 150 campus-wide projects through its application services, technical services, and instructional technology teams.
Butler’s IT department recently chose Tenrox to optimize and consolidate its wide range of IT projects.
“Until now, each team has been using a different system for planning, prioritizing, executing, and archiving projects,” says Joe Ader, director of client services. He adds, “Tenrox will give us one system for better management, cost control, and give us much greater insight into the entire portfolio.”
Butler originally considered building its own proprietary system. However, after considering several products, it chose Tenrox On-Demand because of its intuitive interface, flexible implementation of solution components, and seamless integration with Microsoft SharePoint®.
Ader explains, “Aside from its industry awards, Tenrox stood out because it addressed all of our key objectives: to improve project visibility, enhance time tracking through an online option, and simplify our entire project management process.”
Butler plans to use Tenrox to develop common definitions and terminology across its three IT teams, create a single administrative database, and to review archival records to improve project efficiency. “It was important to bring in a product to consolidate project tracking and to give us a holistic view of the department—and that’s exactly what Tenrox will do,” Ader says.
