An intuitive project planning tool: That includes various Gantts, project WBS (work breakdown structure), schedule chart, load chart, task and resource sheet views. Project Plan includes everything you would expect in a project planning tool such as critical path, resource leveling, and multiple project baselines. Note that Tenrox Project Plan fully supports Microsoft Project file templates. You can import Microsoft Project files and export Tenrox project plans to Microsoft Project at any time.
Enterprise project planning features: Project managers can work offline on project plans. Once a plan is ready it can be saved to the server and shared with the project team. Team members can collaborate on a plan using enterprise features such as check in, check out and publish.
Project Management team: A project management team can be built based on searching for best matched resources (qualified and available) or simply assigning tasks to a project team built on the fly.
Timesheet Management: Once the plan is ready it can be published for execution. Project team members will immediately see the assigned tasks as part of their timesheets.
Budget Management: The time allocated to the planned tasks can be automatically set as the project budget. A project manager can define budget thresholds and notifications to be informed of tasks or critical milestones that are over budget or are somehow not meeting budgeted targets.
Estimate to Complete, Cost and Schedule Variance:Project team members can report on estimate to complete. Project plan and estimate information is used to report on cost and schedule variance.
Global Project Management: Project managers can review actual versus planned and modify the plan as required. Updated plans can immediately update timesheets and the assigned tasks that team members need to work on.
Project Controls: Throughout the project execution phase Tenrox employs a workflow driven approach to enforcing change management, tracking and time reporting policies. For example, if the project budget is enforced, project team members will not be able exceed the budgeted time unless and until the project manager updates the project plan. As another example, you can use a scope change workflow to track and record approval for any changes to a project. The scope change workflow provides a consistent, audited and transparent process for controlling and seeking approval for any project changes. All changes and user entries are audited and validated against your policies at the point of entry.
Cost Accounting, Charge Back, Software Capitalization (SOP 98) and Billing: Time entries against the project can be tagged as R&D, billable, chargeback, capitalized or another such attributes. You can report on billable versus non billable time, capitalized project time, and run various project cost/revenue analysis reports to assess profitability and/or productivity.
Accounting and Payroll Integration: Tenrox has certified integrations with all major accounting and payroll applications. Users can export summary or detailed project cost, billing and pay code information to their financial systems at any time during the project execution phase.
