“All of our employees use Tenrox, whether they work as consultants, project managers, subcontractors, admin or sales staff. We have been pleasantly surprised by the rate of adoption, finding that most staff need only a few hours training and are then able to perform all of the functions that they need to on daily basis….We continually receive return on this investment, at the beginning we were able to reduce our invoicing time from two days per week to two hours per week, but even a few years into this system we find that we are still reaping the benefits of a well supported PSA.”

Localism – There’s No Place Like Home
A great article by Newsweek magazine
(http://www.newsweek.com/id/217029/page/1) on the trend towards staying local. Here are some of the key takeaways:
Perhaps nothing will be as surprising about 21st-century America as its settledness.
Yet in reality Americans actually are becoming less nomadic. As recently as the 1970s as many as one in five people moved annually; by 2006, long before the current recession took hold, that number was 14 percent, the lowest rate since the census starting following movement in 1940. Since then tougher times have accelerated these trends, in large part because opportunities to sell houses and find new employment have dried up.

Can you provide a description of the database management system utilized by Tenrox?
Tenrox leverages Microsoft SQL Server. By supporting a single database system we are able to take full advantage of the database engine's capabilities for maintaining data integrity, optimizing performance, implementing a flexible security model as well as easy for being a cost-effective reporting and analytics tool.
We have different types of projects; some are time and material, some are fixed bid, some are milestone-based; and some are a mix. How do you handle revenue recognition in such cases?
Tenrox provides a Revenue Recognition module that enables you to setup default policies globally and as necessary override the policy at the project level. Revenue recognition policies include Percent Complete, Time and Material, and Fixed Bid projects. Work In Progress (WIP) accrual manager calculates the revenue to be recognized, and the appropriate general ledger transactions are auto generated and can be posted to your accounting system. Every project can only have one revenue recognition policy. If a project starts as one type (example a project that starts as time and material ) and then changes into another (example fixed price), it can be tracked using sub-projects.

Project Management 101
Rudolf Melik, co-founder and CEO of Tenrox, an international project management software and workforce management solutions company headquartered in Glendale, Calif., describes the two approaches that his firm applies in a preemptive effort to control scope creep: the waterfall method, in which requirements are defined at the outset with the understanding that if a change is requested, there is a chance that the schedule and budget will be modified; and the agile method, in which a set number of days are allocated to the project, along with a list of prioritized goals.
